John Callen
John Callen has been in the CAD/CAM field for over 30
years. Most recently, he was the product manager in
Autodesk's Manufacturing Engineering group defining a next
generation CAM product. Prior, he headed marketing for Gibbs
and Associates, creators of GibbsCAM. Before that, he headed
product management for CAMAX, and was the SmartCAM
application development manager for Point Control, another
Autodesk CAM partner. John had previously worked at Autodesk
as the Product Marketing Manager for Interoperability. He
has been actively involved in a number of manufacturing
initiatives, such Smart Machine Platform Initiative (SMPI),
STEP-NC, Open Modular Architecture Controller (OMAC), and
MTConnect where his experience in CAD and CAM has been
invaluable.
John has written numerous articles and presented at many
conferences. He recently wrote a 6 part series for Desktop
Engineering on CAM 101, explaining to a CAD audience how/why
