Rande
RobinsonRande has over 24 years of experience in IT,
construction, bridge and roadway engineering with 2 state
departments of transportation and several community
colleges.
Rande works for the North Carolina Department of
Transportation (NCDOT) as a Technology Support Specialist
Advanced. He is responsible for the training, support and
implementation of the NCDOT"s CADD and engineering
applications for the western half of North Carolina. He uses
AEC/civil engineering software for highway and bridge
design. He tries to maximize use of Internet technologies
for current engineering work flows and processes. His
department uses Bentley's MicroStation and GEOPAK, as well
as Interplot and various other related tools. He also has
experience with AutoCAD (older versions 1.6- 2001).
Rande has a BS in civil engineering from West Virginia
Institute of Technology and has made multiple presentations
at HEEP area and international meetings and has authored
several articles on the use of information technology in
engineering. He has co-authored Understanding MicroStation
V8 XM in 2D - A Basic Guide for XM and V8i Users.
Rande wrote a column for PC Trans Magazine (now a
website).
