Autodesk is upping the ante with financial analysts by
projecting its fiscal year 2005 will boast revenues between
$1,050 million and $1,070 million - crossing the psychologically
important $1 billion mark.
Autodesk had hoped to reach that threshold in FY2003, but the
downturn in the economy meant a downturn in revenue to $0.824
billion.
In its press release, Autodesk continues to harp on the
3D-has-been-a-marketing-failure theme: "With 6 million users,
Autodesk solutions are the worldwide design standard, yet only a
fraction of those users have migrated to 3-D. The higher selling
price of 3-D products presents a significant growth opportunity
for the company."
Translation: All you 2D users out there in AutoCAD land are
expected to contribute toward Autodesk's attaining membership in
the Billion-Dollar Club.
