Exporting and Importing a Style in Inventor R9

by Elise Moss, Moss Designs
August 30, 2004

I needed to define a Velcro strip for an assembly I was working on. So I created the desired shape and then defined a color I named Velcro.

Next, I wanted to make that custom color available in another assembly.

1. Go to Format→Styles Editor.

2. Expand the Color section. Locate the custom color – Velcro.

3. Highlight the custom color. Right click and select Export.

4. Browse to the folder where you want to store your styles.

5. Name your style Velcro. Press Save.

6. Press Done to close the dialog.

7. Window over or open the assembly/part file where you want to import your style.

8. Go to Format→Styles Editor.

9. Go to Import.

10. Select the style file you defined earlier. Press Open.

11. The color is now available in your active file.
