AutoCAD 2004 Customization Tutorial: Command Alias Editor

Command Alias Editor is an application that can help you in modifying AutoCAD Program Parameters (ACAD.PGP) file. The application is available if you install Express Tools. To install Express Tools start AutoCAD 2004 setup program. In Install tab click Install Express Tools [Figure 1]. Follow the wizard to install the Express Tools. The first time you start AutoCAD the Express menu and toolbars will be enabled.

1. Install Express Tools if necessary.

2. Start AutoCAD 2004.

3. Select Express > Tools > Command Alias Editor [Figure 2].

4. The Command Alias Editor window appears [Figure 3]. Select the Command Aliases tab if not selected.

5. Click Add. The New Command Alias dialog box appears [Figure 4].

6. In Alias box type VBA.

7. In AutoCAD Command box type VBAIDE. You could select the command name from the list.

8. Click OK. The new alias is added to the list [Figure 5].

9. In Command Alias window click OK. A warning message informs you that you are overwriting the current ACAD.PGP file [Figure 6].

10. Click Yes. Another message informs you that AutoCAD is updated based on the new ACAD.PGP [Figure 7].

11. Click OK.

12. In command line enter VBA. The Visual Basic for Applications window appears.
