AutoCAD 2004 Customization Tutorial:
Right-click Customization

The OPTIONS command allows you to customize the AutoCAD behavior
when you click the right button of mouse in different
situations. The following simple tutorial explores this feature.
1. Download
R16 - Chair.dwg.
Note: If you are using AutoCAD 2002, 2000i, or
2000 download
R15 - Chair.dwg.
2. Start AutoCAD and then open the drawing file.
3. Invoke MOVE.
4. Right-click in drawing area. This will end the command.
5. Invoke OPTIONS command.
6. Select User Preferences tab [Figure 1].

7. Click the Right-click Customization button. The Right-Click
Customization dialog box appears [Figure 2].

8. Select Turn on time-sensitive right-click. This option
is available in AutoCAD 2004 only. By selecting this option a
quick right-click is equivalent to pressing Enter while a rather
long click results in showing a shortcut menu (if applicable).
9. Click Apply & Close.
10. In Options dialog box click OK.
11. In drawing area quickly press and release the right button
of mouse. The Options dialog box appears.
12. Press Esc to exit the dialog box.
13. In drawing area press the right mouse button and release it
in less than a second. A shortcut menu appears [Figure 3].

14. Select Repeat OPTIONS.
15. Click Right-click customization again.
16. Deselect Turn on time-sensitive right-click.
17. In command mode section, select Shortcut menu, always
enabled.
18. Click Apply and Close.
19. Click OK.
20. Invoke MOVE command.
21. Right-click in drawing area. This time a shortcut menu
appears [Figure 4].

22. In shortcut menu, select Pan.
23. Pan the drawing to the middle of the screen.
24. Press Esc to exit Pan.
25. Continue with MOVE and fix the drawing
