Randall S. Newton,
April 16, 2007 Flomerics Group PLC, a supplier
of engineering simulation and analysis software, reported robust sales
growth in 2006. Revenue was up 24% to $27.8 million. The increase is due
to the overall growth of analysis software and to the acquisition of
Nika GmbH. Revenues excluding those resulting from the acquisition of
Nika grew by 13% to $25.3 million. The Nika acquisition brought
Flomerics the Engineering Fluid Dynamics (EFD) product line; Flomerics
claims the line is currently the world’s fastest-growing computational
fluid dynamics (CFD) system. EFD sales were up 33% in 2006. The primary
product is EFD.Lab, a CFD simulation tool tightly coupled with leading
MCAD applications.

Flomerics seems well-positioned to ride the virtual prototyping trend
in CAE. Unlike competing CFD solutions, EFD from Nika is fully embedded
into leading MCAD products including Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, and
CATIA. Using Flomerics’ software and consultancy services, customers
accelerate and optimize their design processes by predicting the
behavior of proposed designs before building physical prototypes
A significant share of EFD revenue has come from royalties on sales
of COSMOSFloWorks, a CFD tool embedded within SolidWorks and based on
EFD.Lab technology.
