Randall S. Newton, December 7, 2006 Engineering
analysis and simulation software firm ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANSS), announced
a new company record for quarterly operating results and announced an
increase in its outlook for 2006.
ANSYS says it is stressing its non-GAAP results because of a one-time
charge of $28.1 million recorded in the second quarter of 2006 related to
in-process R&D associated with the May 2006 acquisition of Fluent, another
engineering analysis software firm. The non-GAAP results exclude the income
statement effects of stock-based compensation, purchase accounting for
deferred revenue, acquisition-related amortization of intangible assets and
the one-time acquired in-process research and development charge
