It was with great sadness that I read the
news that Joe Greco
had passed away. My heart goes out to his wife, Heather, who will miss him
the most. He will also be greatly missed by the CAD community.
If you have read any publication about computer-aided design, either print
or online, I’m sure you know of Joe. I first met him during my days at
CADENCE magazine and I was honored to have him write for us. Since then, Joe
had become the most widely read and referred to writer on the field of
mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) and its products.
Just the sight of his name under the title of a review was sufficient to
serve as the definitive judgment on a software product. He had encompassed a
vast and complete knowledge of the industry that none would dare argue. It
was as close as we in the CAD industry had to a Good Housekeeping Seal of
Approval.
I shall miss seeing Joe at the industry trade shows, where he was always a
fixture. He has left some very big shoes to fill.
